What Is The Journey?

“Our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee.”

– St. Augustine of Hippo

When I was about 12 years old, I had my first experience with Pentecostalism. I didn’t know it then, but it was the beginning of a two-decade journey that had me a Pentecostal deacon by 23 and – shockingly – a Catholic by 37.

I’ve often been asked by Evangelical friends how I could possibly become Catholic. And, I’ve been asked by intensely curious Catholics how a trip on Azusa Street could lead to Rome, without constant warnings of “recalculating” and “make U-turn now.”

My journey didn’t end when I came into the Catholic Church. It’s been a pilgrimage of more than 25 years, occasionally easy and glorious, often a struggle, stumbling from the path. But, always seeking to persevere – striving to learn, to discover, and embrace the The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
